Fleming College of Applied Arts and Technology, located in the heart of the Kawarthas, was named for famous Canadian inventor and engineer Sir Sandford Fleming. With more than 100 full-time programs in Art and Design, Business, Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences, Justice and Community Development, Health and Wellness, as well as Trades and Technology, Fleming offers unique opportunities for students to enrich their college experience. At Fleming, students value the hands-on learning they receive, which combines theory and practice. Students have access to Fleming’s experienced faculty and enjoy the benefits of a supportive and challenging learning environment.
Profile
Our beautiful Sutherland Campus is located not far from the vibrant, student-friendly lifestyle of downtown Peterborough. With expert faculty, and best-in-class, innovative learning environments, the campus is a thriving academic community. We have 130+ full-time programs in Arts and Heritage, Business, Health and Wellness, Justice and Community Development, and Trades and Technology. All of our programs offer hands-on, applied learning to ensure graduates are prepared for a successful career.
We further offer dozens of part-time and contract training courses, as well as dual credit courses in partnership with area school boards. Within our Sutherland campus, we offer 8- or 16-week English language programs, which provide students with the language skills needed for successful academic career, work and life in Canada. Successful completion of Level 8 will give you direct entry into most Fleming College post-secondary programs, provided you meet the program-specific academic requirements.
Our Frost Campus is surrounded by the natural beauty of rivers, lakes and green space. Located close to Lindsay’s historic downtown in the City of Kawartha Lakes, the student-friendly community offers numerous opportunities to get out and explore in all four seasons. We are proud to say the campus is home to one of Canada’s leading environmental institutions. We continuously strive to reduce our carbon footprint while aiming to achieve top industry sustainability standards. In fact, our campus is a living, learning lab for our students and includes many green features: community and pollinator gardens, arboretum, green roof, apiary, wind turbine, geothermal heating and cooling system, and a constructed wetland for waste treatment.
Overlooking Head Lake in the Haliburton Highlands and close to a thriving community art scene, our Haliburton Campus provides a one-of-a-kind, hands-on studio experience. Inspiration is everywhere: you can explore the renowned sculpture forest in Glebe Park which features work by Canadian and international artists, tour the many art galleries and museums, and take in the local festivities. You will learn from dedicated professionals who have helped shape art, craft and design disciplines in Canada.
