Laurentian University serves a vast region across Northern Ontario and beyond with strengths in stressed watershed systems, rural and northern health, sustainable mining, engineering and environmental remediation. Located on the traditional territory of the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek, Laurentian also differentiates itself by its bilingual learning environment and tri-cultural mandate. Offering 106 programs of which 33 programs are in French, students have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of Indigenous culture and ways of knowing across select programs and a broad selection of relevant courses.

The Laurentian University campus is nestled among five freshwater lakes and our natural setting is minutes from the downtown area and comprises more than 765 acres of land that adjoin the vast Lake Laurentian Conservation Area. Nature is at the core of the University’s identity, and learning here, in this awe-inspiring natural environment, is a true pleasure for the senses. It is an environment in which you will thrive.
Scholarships and Bursaries

Our scholarships recognize academic achievements and are awarded based on admission average.
- Your average: 90% to 100%*
Academic Excellence Scholarships: Up to $60,000 in scholarship awards
$15,000 in first year, renewable in subsequent years provided average is maintained. - Your average: 80% to 89.9%*
Academic Excellence Scholarships: Up to $40,000 in scholarship awards
$10,000 in first year, renewable in subsequent years provided average is maintained.
* Averages are calculated automatically based on equivalency-adjusted grade point average (GPA) using the World Education Services tables. A 7.5 GPA is equivalent to an 80% average.
- Scholarships are limited to students studying in open-enrolment undergraduate programs. Excluded program: Nursing.
- Students with a prior degree are not eligible for the Laurentian University International Academic Excellence Scholarships.
- Eligibility for renewal will be based on full-time status in previous academic year (30 credits of which 24 credits must have been taken in the Fall/Winter term, remaining 6 must be taken in the spring term)
NOTE: Scholarships are paid on a September to August cycle. Amounts will be pro-rated based on the number of credits per semester.

Housing
Laurentian Residence has five buildings, each with their own personality. Each building is different in size, layout, shape, and furnishings, and even within the same complex, your room may not look exactly like the room of fellow residents. That being said, you’ll have the opportunity to give it your own flare — that’s part of the beauty of living independently!
University College Residence (UC)
Eleven-storey building is a traditional dormitory-style that accommodates 240 students. Each floor is equipped with television/common room, kitchen, bathrooms and each bedroom features high speed internet access, porter services 24/7 and outdoor recreational facilities.
Single Student Residence (SSR)
Provides accommodations for 387 students in a three-storey building with self-contained apartments (four – six person apartments). Security and support 24/7. Each apartment has a living room, kitchen, two bathrooms, storage room and high speed internet access.
West Residence (West)
Six-storey air-conditioned building with 55 furnished self-contained apartments (223 students) available for upper year-students, who meet credit or age requirements. Each apartment consists of four single furnished bedrooms, living room, kitchen and two bathrooms and is equipped with high-speed internet access . Each floor has a lounge where guests can meet and socialize.
East Residence (East)
Eleven-storey air conditioned building with 62 furnished self-contained apartments (236 students) available for upper year-students who meet credit or age requirements. Each apartment consists of four single furnished bedrooms, living room, kitchen and two bathrooms and is equipped with high-speed internet access.
Mature Student Residence (MSR)
Recently renovated, MSR is an 11-storey building with self-contained unfurnished apartments for upper-year students. 128 units which offer a one bedroom apartment-style living.
Huntington University Residence**
Huntington University Residence is independent of Laurentian University and is not operated by Laurentian University. First year students living in Huntington University Residence are required to purchase a mandatory meal plan.
Accommodates 162 students in 21 single and 68 double rooms.
The first-year residence guarantee does not apply to this residence.
