Established by royal charter in 1827, the University of Toronto routinely ranks among the top tier of the world’s universities. U of T encompasses 18 Faculties and Schools, more than 100 departments, and 170 research centres and institutes. We teach and research on historic campus grounds in downtown Toronto, Mississauga, and Scarborough, and in nine fully affiliated teaching hospitals. With 20,000 faculty and staff, some 90,000 students, and an annual operating budget of $2.5 billion, the University contributes $15.7 billion to the Canadian economy each year.
Unique in North America, U of T’s tri-campus system makes it easy for students to learn, network, and innovate in Canada’s economic heartland, just steps from some of the world’s most dynamic neighbourhoods. You can apply to one admission category per academic division. Once you’re registered at the campus of your choice, you’ll be able to personalize your degree with majors, minors, specialists, and certificates.
Featuring a blend of neo-Gothic and ultra-modernist architecture, the University of Toronto St. George campus is in downtown Toronto. Since 1827, it has been home to world-class professional and postgraduate faculties, along with programs across five first-entry academic divisions: Arts & Science; Applied Science & Engineering; Music; Kinesiology & Physical Education; and Architecture, Landscape & Design. Just beyond the campus are dozens of unique neighbourhoods to wander and discover.
With co-op programs in 45+ fields across the arts, business, and sciences, the University of Toronto Scarborough is home to an Olympic-calibre sports complex, 200+ student groups, and some of the world’s most diverse culinary neighbourhoods. From community-focused learning to international development co-op opportunities, students begin to build truly multidisciplinary careers on day one.
As Canada’s sixth largest city, Mississauga provides a bustling urban experience with a stunning natural setting. Enjoy world-class learning in an intimate, hands-on setting at the University of Toronto Mississauga, where 15,000 students and 140+ student clubs collaborate and learn in award-winning, energy-efficient facilities, surrounded by 225 acres of protected greenbelt land.
Requirements and Admissions
Applications are processed online through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) . If you live outside of Canada, are applying solely to U of T, and have neither past nor present experience studying in Canada, use the “University of Toronto International Application.” If you’re applying to several universities in Ontario, use the “105” application.
Admission is competitive–it’s best to apply early. Then keep an eye on your inbox. We’ll send you can acknowledgement email with login credentials that you can use to activate and access your JOIN applicant portal , where you can finish the rest of your application. Engineering applicants will be redirected to a separate applicant portal to access the mandatory supplementary application .
Applicants should have a completed secondary school diploma, or be in their final year of a diploma program, with excellent results throughout their transcript (emphasis on senior-level prerequisites). Calculus is require for programs with Math prerequisites. For minimum requirements from all secondary school systems, including common international curriculums, please visit uoft.me/reqs .
