Profile
Established in 1967, Georgian College (Canada) is a public college with 130+ market-driven programs offered to over 13,000 full-time students, including about 4,500 international students from 85 countries.
Our 100-acre flagship campus, located in Barrie, is just an hour north of Toronto and our six other campuses can be found in the Georgian Bay area. Georgian College is renowned for our programs in Aviation & Automotive Business Management, Engineering, Hospitality, Health & Wellness, Information Technology and Design & Visual Arts. Our campuses boast state-of-the-art equipment and facilities for all programs, with ample opportunity for every student to get hands-on training.
We offer two- and three-year diplomas, one-year post-graduate certificates, degrees and combined degree-diploma programs with Lakehead University. Georgian programs boast an impressive 780 transfer agreements with 59 institutions across the globe. With our work-integrated programs, students have the opportunity to learn from industry professionals and gain valuable experience while making money during their work term. We also have one of the highest graduate employment rates among Ontario colleges; 85.8% of Georgian alumni found work within six months of graduation.
Within our main campus, we offer a leading seven-week English language program , which provides students with the skills you need for success in higher education, work and life in Canada. Successful completion of levels 7 and 8 will give you direct entry into most postsecondary programs and you’ll earn an Ontario College Certificate.

Requirements and Admissions
Admission requirements are different for each program. We’re here to assist you as you prepare your application with your academic credentials and proof of English language proficiency. International applicants are urged to apply as early as possible to ensure there is sufficient time to obtain a study permit/student visa.

Diploma and degree programs:
- Secondary or high school transcripts with proof of graduation, subjects taken and grades received
- Math and English credits are required at the Grade 12 level
- Program-specific admissions requirements can be found on your program page
Graduate certificates:
- College or university transcripts with proof of graduation, subjects taken and grades received
- Resumé outlining work/volunteer/internship experiences
- Letter of intent stating reason for applying

You’ve probably heard the phrase “you’re not just a number,” but at Georgian it’s really true! When you become a student here, you become part of the Georgian family. With small classes, lots of student resources, friendly staff, volunteer and work opportunities, dynamic varsity teams, clubs and campus events, you’ll find your favourite way to plug into student life.
Everyone needs a little help sometimes, which is why we offer a wide variety of services such as co-op and career success, mental health services and testing services to get you from orientation to graduation. Our students tell us that our friendly staff make a huge difference in their college experience. We also support you with individualized service to manage your student account. You can access services such as admissions, financial aid, registering for courses, paying fees, transcript requests, receiving information on important dates, refunds, withdrawals and ONEcard (student identification card).
Scholarships and Bursaries
Postsecondary education is an investment in your future. We know many students find it tough to make ends meet, which is why we offer so many options to help you pay your way to graduation.
Georgian offers awards, scholarships and bursaries to students of all walks of life — domestic, international and Indigenous, first years, upcoming graduates and everyone in between. You can afford this!
With more than 650 awards and scholarships available to students each year with a combined value of over $750,000, we’re confident there’s one for you!
The average value of a Georgian award or scholarship is $1,000. Recipients may be selected based on:
- community involvement
- involvement within the Georgian community
- academic achievements
- financial need
- sports and athletics
- first generation students
Housing
It’s important to start thinking about housing in Canada. Choose between on-campus residence, off-campus housing or homestay! You should spend time researching, contacting people and building connections. We encourage you to start connecting with Georgian representatives, your future classmates, as well as landlords in the community. You can always email International Centre staff to learn more about housing.
It’s also important to have the right budget for your life in Canada. Housing will likely be your largest monthly expense. According to the government of Canada , the average living cost in Canada for a college student is $14,000 per year.
